Companies Beyond the EverydayLacoG Interdex: no better book indexing done in all the world. A simple fact. mozilla: not really a company, but an open-source project setting an example to the worldwide business community. mozilla survives on donations while producing superior software such as the Firefox web browser and Thunderbird email program. The original and most simple means of defense against spam, spyware and computer virus is intentionally good programming from the begin. That doesn't make mozilla software or systems like Linux impenetrable. But, like any carnivore, most who write malicious code target what's ill and weak. Few are they who do what they do simply for the challenge of proving the strongest and healthiest imperfectly so. SPAMfighter: a free (not trial) spam blocker from Denmark. It supports all variety of operating systems and email programs such as Outlook, Outlook Express, etc., and handles multiple accounts. Installation is clean as swift and use is easy to extreme. (To install, learn and even filter takes half an hour, after which your spam nightmare will largely disappear.) More importantly, I've experienced zero conflicts (SPAMfighter works well with Norton programs) and zero problems processing mail such as failures to execute, etc., which occur with other spam killers. For that matter, SPAMfighter exceeds Norton anti-spam which can cause conflict with other of Norton's own programs. Like the Zone Alarm firewall, SPAMfighter is free for personal use (places a signature on outgoing email - but what matter if the advertisement is for a product of unusual high quality that solves your spam nightmare free and immediately). For commercial use there is a charge. If you need free SPAM control you can stop hunting now because SPAMfighter is the best you're going to find on the internet. SpyBot: no better free weapon against spyware and Trojans than Patrick Kolla's SpyBot Search and Destroy. Also trouble-free surf protection. Patrick believes in free software, and so do we, especially when it comes to software dealing with security. The internet has become an ocean bloated with piranha which use disrespect to gain your dollars. Many porn sites, for example, are notorious for the use of unethical means to grab their glory in the sun. But that isn't all that much different than business as usual. Only more conspicuous. The internet has further become a realm where only the elite exist. Where a simple keyword can cost a few hundred dollars all that webmasters need to run a website costs a fortune. As in any other media, and everything else, the poor are muted. We greatly appreciate rare people like Kolla who yet realize that "value" refers to more than money. We highly advise that you use his world-class software and we and highly recommend that you make a donation. Zone Labs: no better firewall for a PC. Hacking through BLACK ICE has been something common for years. But nobody hacks Zone Alarm. Unfortunately, for as many years as hackers have been finding their way through BLACK ICE, Zone Alarm has been incompatible with other programs, such as Norton (Symantec). Which made the best antivirus protection in combination with a firewall something of a pain in the neck, until Norton began to market its own firewall. Though it's known that Norton hasn't always been hack-proof, Norton is nevertheless the optimum in PC security: if you can hack Norton then you can hack Microsoft headquarters and military systems worldwide. Norton has other advantages as well. For instance, those who do video conferencing may experience problems with the MS firewall in XP. But because Norton is amazingly anticipative you can disable the Microsoft firewall, use Norton's, and get on with it. Norton is also indispensable to system maintenance. I once used the utilities which McAfee presented with it's antivirus program, and had to format the C drive to solve the problems they caused. Norton utilities, however, are easy and smart. For instance, you'll get a notably faster computer if you use Norton's Speed Disk instead of doing a standard defragment. Those who use 56k dialup modems will like Norton because it prevents disconnection during downloads. Though Norton's spam filtering can present problems, for security otherwise Norton is entirely automatic and trouble-free. It protects my computer from scores of ill email and intrusion attempts every month. So, do I sell Norton products? Not at all. I'm simply stating the truth so that those who are hunting for the best PC security can save a lot time and effort both now and later. Norton belongs on this page as a company which delivers a product and service uniquely beyond the standard. Buy Norton Symantec Internet Security.
